BCCI’s Indian Premier League (IPL) has received a mind-blowing response from India, thanks to Indian cricket team’s grand victory at the T20 World Cup. 8 major territories were up for grabs including Mumbai, Kolkota, Jaipur, Mohali, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Delhi.
With the minimum bid starting at 15 million dollars, major corporate companies were involved in the auction, some of them being Mukesh Ambani’s RIL, Anil Ambani’s ADAG, Vijay Mallya UB Group, Videocon, Deutsche Bank and ICICI, to name a few.
However, the most surprising name on the list was Shah Rukh Khan who through his company Red Chillies Entertainment bid for 5 IPL teams. And more interestingly he even acquired the Kolkota team. Mukesh Ambani’s RIL grabbed the Mumbai team.
The only other Bollywood celebrity’s name on the list was Preity Zinta who through her boyfriend Ness Wadia’s Bombay Dyeing group acquired the Mohali team. The top cities went for as high as 200 million dollars in this auction.
