Salman Khan has definitely been one of the most successful actors in the past year as his film Partner also starring Govinda was declared a blockbuster at the box office and has also prompted the filmmakers to plan a sequel slated to be shot sometime in 2008. The film had an over 90% turnout at almost all theatres and is said to have crossed over Rs. 50 crores at the box office. However, Khan's first Hollywood film, Marigold, was an instant flop and was declared one of the worst movies in Bollywood history. Khan recently won the public poll for the next Bollywood star to have himself waxed at Madame Tussauds in UK.
The past year was extremely trying for the actor also because on August 24, 2007, the Jodhpur sessions court, upheld the 5 year jail term for Khan in the Chinkara poaching case by turning down his appeal against the 2006 judgment. At the time of the hearing, Salman was absent from the hearings as he was busy with a shooting elsewhere while his sister attended the proceedings. The next day he was placed under police arrest in Jodhpur and it was only after spending six days in Jodhpur Central jail he was released on bail.
What others say about Salman: In 2004, he was voted 7th best-looking man in the World and the best looking man in India by People magazine. He won the public poll held by Madame Tussauds for the next Bollywood star to be honoured with a wax replica which will be unveiled in January 2008.
