The King Khan had only two releases this year but both those films turned out to be the biggest hits at the box office. Starting off his 2007 was Shimit Amin's Chak De! India in which Khan played the role of Kabir Khan - coach of India's women hockey team - who takes them to the height of success and glory. And although the movie started low at the box office it became one of the year's biggest hits.

Chak De India crossed the 60 crore net mark in its seventh week and surpassed the collections of Partner and Guru. Khan's second release of the year was his home production Om Shanti Om. Opening on the Diwali weekend and competing against Sanjay Leela Bhansali's much awaited Saawariya, OSO overcame all the obstacles to win the box office over. OSO opened across 878 cinemas and to date, the film has grossed over 100 crores worldwide. OSO also became the biggest Bollywood movie of 2007 in the United Kingdom. One of the biggest draws of the film was a song in the film which featured 31 of Bollywood's biggest stars.
