Govinda is excited about getting together with director David Dhawan and producer Vashu Bhagnani again.

"We've created quite a 'dhamaal' in the past with 'Hero No 1' and 'Coolie No 1'. We'll definitely be creating a full-on entertainment again. Yes, it'll be a comedy. I'll try my level-best that we come back with a film that will do justice to all three of us."

Govinda says he owes his entire comeback to David Dhawan. "It's something I learnt from Bachchan. When he needed to make a comeback he called Yash Chopra for 'Mohabbatein'. Similarly when I needed to come back I rang up David and he gave me 'Partner'."

Govinda has no qualms admitting that the Big B influenced him. "Yeah, I copied Bachchan. I'm not anything like Bachchan. But why shouldn't I copy a man as great as him? If he could reach out to a filmmaker, why couldn't I? David is such a big man. One call to him and my career was re-made. Today, if he asks me to do another film with him I don't even need to think about it. I'd do it blindly."

Govinda has never been more charged up about his career. "I don't really care what people say about me. All I know is, I'm doing my work with sincerity. And I've become very punctual. I reach my sets on time.

"I'm not here to create any problems for anyone. If I'm doing my work quietly, why are some people getting troubled by it? But I'm not going to get rattled.

"I don't regret anything, not even my entry into politics. I respect politicians because they're doing their jobs very efficiently. But the fame and fortune I've got has come through Mata Saraswati and my art (movies). No one has the right to eye my career and try to ruin it."

Govinda's "Money Hai To Honey Hai" producer Kumar Mangat adds: "A miracle happened during the shooting. We finished Govinda's work in 60 days when we had reserved his dates for 85 days.

"In Mauritius where we shot most of the film, Govinda was the first of the cast to be awake. In fact he'd wake me up and we'd have our morning tea together. I remember we had to shoot at a discotheque in Mauritius. We had to reach at 8 a.m. and all we saw were the janitors at work. That's how punctual Govinda has become."

In fact Kumar Mangat is planning another film with Govinda this year. "He's a pleasure to work with," says the producer.

Tashaan is truly the biggest and most awaited project of the season. And the reasons are aplenty.

a) This is the first YRF project in 2008 and comes straight after double-bill disappointments in the form of Aaja Nachle and Laaga Chunari Mein Daag

b) Vishal and Shekhar have a music release more than six months after 2007's biggest success (both film-wise as well as musically) - Om Shanti Om

c) The film stars four top-line actors who have been having a great box office run - Akshay Kumar (5 successful films in a row), Saif Ali Khan (Race), Anil Kapoor (Race, Welcome) and Kareena Kapoor (Jab We Met)

d) Last but definitely not the least - absolutely nothing is known about the film's plot. No wonder, curiosity is simply killing!

Taking these factors into consideration (especially the last one), as a listener, you have absolutely no idea about what to expect from the soundtrack.

Is it going to be a full-on rock album?

Is it going to have 'bhangra' beats holding prominence since the word 'tashan' originates from North India?

Is it going to be full on 'dhinchaak' since Tashan has Vishal-Shekhar composing for a hardcore commercial project?

Well, hold on to all the anticipation and expectation since the five songs which follow belong to the kind which give an altogether different dimension to a movie soundtrack.

'Dil Haara' is a unique composition all the way as one struggles to even describe the flow of the song from beginning till the end. It has Sukhwinder Singh giving a folkish beginning to it, is followed by the sound of rock and has a sufi flavor to it as the 'mukhda' reaches it's peak. The arrangements which follow have an amalgamation of rock and folk sound which makes you sit up and wait to be surprised. Written by Piyush Mishra, expectedly, 'Dil Haara' has lyrics which are truly different from what one normally expects from a Bollywood love song and have a certain ethnic/philosophical touch to them. Picturised on Saif Ali Khan, the song is a huge chartbuster on its way.

Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Akshay Kumar and Anil Kapoor get a couplet each for them as they talk about what 'tashan' means to them through 'Pooja Ka Tashan', 'Jimmy Ka Tashan', 'Bachchan Pande Ka Tashan' and 'Bhaiyyaji Ka Tashan' respectively. Wish this was longer though as the combined duration of each of these four tracks is barely 70 seconds!

Piyush Mishra gets behind the mike for a couple of lines (and repeats them towards the middle of the song) before Sunidhi Chauhan takes over the proceedings in 'Chhaliya'. 'Chhaliya' too isn't linear in it's format as it has a melodic beginning to it which changes course pretty quick with a Western sound imbibed into the proceedings. A number with a trademark Vishal-Shekhar stamp to it, 'Chhaliya' is written by Anvita Dutt Guptan and has it's rhythm coming from the line - 'Na Lada Na Lada, Tu Ankh Na Lada' - which forms the major part of the song. A high on beats number which goes perfectly well with the perky on-screen image of Kareena Kapoor!

Sureshot massy entertainer of the album comes in the form of 'Dil Dance Maare' which would definitely have been the riskiest and the most complex song to be created. Reason? When presented with lyrics like 'White White Face Dekhe, Dilwa Beating Fast, Sasura Chance Maare Re; O Very Happy In My Heart, Dil Dance Maare Re', it doesn't make a composer's job easy. And when the lyricist is Vishal Dadlani himself, there is no one else to blame too!

Well, Vishal and Shekhar get into a full on 'dhamaal' mode here and go truly mad in giving a kind of sound which no song so far in a 21st century Bollywood song has carried! Getting inspired from Laxmikant-Pyaarelal school of music when songs belonging to this mood and style were in vogue during late 70s/early 80s, 'Dil Dance Maare' (picturised on Akshay and Kareena) has a rooted appeal to it and turns out to be one of the most innovative works of Vishal-Shekhar.

While Sukhwinder Singh and Sunidhi Chauhan are in great form, it is refreshing to hear Udit Narayan have a major song to his credit after long. The man certainly seems to be having fun and the rest aren't far behind, especially with Vishal going truly ballistic with lyrics like - 'Tohre Dil Ke Theater Maan, Dil Deewana Booking Advance Maare Re'! Are 'bhojpuri' film makers listening?

The composer duo get into Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy territory with 'Falak Tak' which reminds of 'Chup Chup Ke' [Bunty Aur Babli] and 'Bol Na Halke Halke' [Jhoom Barabar Jhoom] when it comes to the romantic genre being explored. A duet by Udit Narayan & Mahalaxmi Iyer, 'Falak Tak' completely turns around the mood of the album. From a 'masti' and 'dhamaal' time that a listener was having all this while, proceedings turn truly romantic with 'Falak Tak' which boasts of some innovative poetic lyrics by Kausar Munir. A soothing number which is made special by its singers, especially Udit Narayan, 'Falak Tak' is the only number in Tashan where you get some breather as a listener.

And this is because soon arrives the title track 'Tashan Mein' which is based on the kind of music which one associates with Quentin Tarantino. Heard of background music from films like Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction or Kill Bill series? 'Tashan Mein' has a guitar creating a similar sound which forms the initial base of the song. While Vishal and Saleem go about adding on to the haunting appeal of the song, it is only after around a minute that the song catches up pace with the sound of 'Tashan Mein, Tashan Mein'. The song turns truly rock here as Piyush Mishra and Vishal weave lyrics which give the 'style' element to the film's characters! A track which should come as a background piece at regular intervals in the film's narrative.

Songs in Tashaan excite, get on to you quickly and make you put them on a repeat mode. There is not a single dull moment in this entire album which has its tallest highpoints in 'Dil Dance Maare', 'Dil Haara' and 'Falak Tak'. YRF, Vishal and Shekhar can uncork a champagne bottle since Tashan is all set to record music sales which would be at par with the combined music sales of all of Yash Raj Films projects in 2007 (Ta Ra Rum Pum, Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, Chak De India, Laaga Chunari Mein Daag and Aaja Nachle).

Akshaye Khanna is on Cloud Nine and rightly so! His work in RACE has come in for tremendous appreciation and most importantly, its success at the box-office has only added to the excitement. Shooting for SHORTKUT in Bangkok, the actor confides in me that no one expected RACE to work in such a big way. “Of course, all of us were confident that it would work big time, but the numbers have caught everyone unawares,” he sounds elated.

Akshaye, who has worked with some of the biggest names in the business, now looks forward to working with Akshay Kumar some day. “Imagine the two of us in one movie,” he states, “And only two people can achieve the impossible -- Abbas-Mustan and Priyadarshan. In fact, they've been toying with the idea of casting us in a movie, but haven't found the right script yet.”

Akshaye now looks forward to his next release MERE BAAP PEHLE AAP, which brings Akshaye and Priyadarshan together after a gap of few years. “It's a fabulous film. In fact, I'd like to say that it's Priyan's best film so far,” he beams. Coming from someone whose name is synonymous with qualitative cinema, it only increases the expectations from this film.

Khan v/s Khan Again

Its only March and Bollywood fans all over the world are looking forward to the Diwali releases this year. Two Khans, Salman and Aamir, are expected to take each other on with their big budgeted films this year.

Aamir’s Ghajini

From going bald to beefing himself up, Aamir is leaving no stone unturned for his Hindi remake of the Tamil film Ghajini. The film has already created such hype that the actor is believed to have already sold the rights to the film for 90 crores to a leading distributor. With the success of Taare Zameen Par, Khan is riding high. Aamir’s Ghajini is said to be inspired from Christopher Nolan’s Hollywood flick Memento. The film revolves around the life of an anterograde amnesiac who can’t remember anything for more than a few minutes and therefore has no memories and is in search for the man who murdered his wife.

Salman’s Yuvraaj

Pegged as Subhash Ghai’s most expensive film till date, Yuvraaj stars Anil Kapoor, Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif. Shot in exotic locales like Czechoslovakia and Austria, this musical is said to cost 50 crores alone for filming. Again hoping for a release around Diwali and with a strong star cast, Salman’s Yuvraaj looks like a strong contender to take on Aamir’s Ghajini.

Aamir vs Salman

Although Aamir and Salman brought the roof down with Andaz Apna Apna, the two have never worked together again after that. While neither has come out in the open and criticized one another, industry insiders have confirmed that there is no love lost between the two superstars. In fact the two have turned down numerous offers to work together and now with their big releases for 2008 slated for a Diwali release, one can’t help but wonder if this will be part of the infamous Khan v/s Khan war.

Salman Khan has apparently pulled out of his film with Sanjay Dutt.

The film which was a remake of the Hollywood flick Ghostbusters was to star Sanjay Dutt, Salman Khan and Riteish Deshmukh. A friend of Salman tells us that Khan has had to pull out due to date problems.

“Salman and Sanjay had discussed the film. Since this was going to be one of the first films to be produced by Sanjay Dutt’s production company, Sallu wanted to be a part of it. But with Yuvraaj and then his own film Veer coming up, Salman has next to no dates,” says a source.

However, as much as Salman may have genuinely wanted to do the film, his refusal now has not gone down well Dutt.

“The film has three main protagonists which was to be be played by Sanju, Salman and Riteish,” says the source, “The film was to only go on floors towards the very end of 2008. But now with Salman suddenly pulling out it has put Sanjay in quite a tight spot. He was in fact going to announce his production house with this film. And now with his main lead pulling out how can he make any announcement?”

Sanjay and Salman are said to be quite good friends and often are known to bond over their mutual passion for fitness. However now with Salman ditching Dutt at the last minute, many close friends of Sanju tell us that the actor is quite miffed with his ‘friend’.

Katrina Kaif and Kareena Kapoor are raking in the moolah in Bollywood these days. Till last year it was all about multiple film deals being offered to leading male actors but now these two ladies are walking away with big deals themselves.

Katrina Kaif is increasingly turning out to be the most bankable actress in Bollywood and it is no wonder then that she was snapped up by Studio 18 for a two film deal for six crores.

Says Katrina, “Yes, its true that I have signed up with Studio 18 for two films, but am not in the position to reveal details, as I have signed a confidentiality contract with Studio 18. Besides there is a comfort level associating with them since I have worked with them in Namaste London, Welcome and Singh Is King. And both the script as well as the directors are simply brilliant.” And recent news suggests that on the heels of this contract, Kaif has also inked a deal with Reliance Entertainment for 6 crores as well.

Similarly, with just one blockbuster last year, Kareena Kapoor is back on top. Not only is she charging close to 3.5 crores per film thereby making her the highest paid actress, the Kapoor beauty has also signed a multiple film deal with Ashtavinayak soon after the success of Jab We Met became apparent. However now it seems that the actress is being approached by various production houses and therefore is even trying to re-negotiate her current contract with them.

“When she signed them to where is currently there is a world of a difference. Based on the calculations when she signed the contract she was charging half of what she is now. Therefore the contract is keeping that rate in mind. However, now with news of Kat signing a deal of 6 crores obviously Kareena wants more!” says an industry insider.

Aamir Khan loves surprising his audience. Films like Lagaan and Taare Zameen Par cemented his reputation as an innovative actor-director who isn’t afraid to take risks. “When you come up with something new, it usually means you have to take a lot of risks,” says Aamir. “You have to convince people that what you are doing will work with (the audience). So, being innovative requires a lot of strength and courage — but I think a lot of us have it.”

Of late, the actor has been surprising fans off screen as well. Previously, he would stay away from award functions; these days, however, he is often seen at non-Bollywood award ceremonies. At one such function, he was asked when he would unleash his highly anticipated look — that of a bald man! He merely laughed and said, “I’m going to shave my hair off. That will be my latest innovation.” Guess he has another surprise lined up for us.

He enamoured the French for the first time in 2002 when he took Devdas to the Cannes film festival. And on Friday night Sanjay Leela Bhansali did it again at the prestigious Theatre du Chatelet when his adaptation of Padmavati, a 1923 opera-ballet by Albert Roussel, received a standing ovation of 15 minutes.

“It’s been the most precious moment. I can’t tell you how proud I felt of being an Indian. To come to another country, take their form of art, do it my way and to get a response like this, is truly unforgettable,” said Bhansali over phone from Paris.

In true Bhansali style, the opera was embellished with colours, elephants, women in colourful ghagra cholis and over the top emotions. Bhansali’s oeuvre is backed by a truly Indian team with costumes by Rajesh Pratap Singh, choreography by Tanusree Shankar, lighting by Somak Mukherjee and sets by Omung Kumar Bhandula.

Padmavati is led by a mainly French cast with Marie-Nicole Lemieux from the French-speaking Canadian province of Quebec playing the title role of the Indian queen who commits sati after stabbing her husband, Ratan Sen, to stop falling into Alouddin’s lustful clutches.

Critics seemed to agree with the audiences. “The sets and the direction is Indian in style…a perfect alchemy of the Bollywood style,” said a review on classiquenews.com. “The visual deployment of the choreography has a somewhat poetic force especially in the sequences that narrate the fierceness and the tragic heroism of a princess in love.”

Resmusica.com said Padmavati was spectacular, vibrant and rich in colours. “This profusion of effects can bring about a visual saturation (maybe the next time they can do away with the metallic jewelry of the dancers) but you can’t contest that Sanjay Leela Bhansali knows how to direct his actors, nothing is left to chance, all the movements look natural,” it said.

“The audience responded to the drama, the pathos, the music and the tragedy. It was truly an uplifting experience,” recounts Bhansali.

Claiming that now he’s “hooked on to doing operas”, Bhansali said its timing, after the critical massacre of his last release, Saawariya, couldn’t have been better. “It takes a lot of courage and strength to do something so unexplored just two months after your last artistic work has been ripped apart,” he said. “Today, I feel reassured and slightly vindicated.”

Bhansali senses a deep connection with France. “My best is achieved here. I go to a store to buy bread and people ask me if I’m an Indian. They ask me, ‘Do you know Devdas and Aishwarya Rai?’, I smile and say, “I’ve heard the names somewhere,” he laughs. Padmavati’s last show will be staged on March 24.

Race is the story of two brothers Ranvir Singh (Saif Ali Khan) and his alcoholic younger brother Rajiv Singh (Akshaye Khanna). Their life revolves around horse racing – from owning a stud farm to betting huge money on them, the two millionaires can’t see beyond the thrills of fast cars and fast horses. Bipasha Basu plays Sonia – the successful model while Katrina potters around the first half of the film as Ranvir Singh’s personal assistant. The film begins with Ranvir Singh meeting with a serious road accident which Singh, disappointingly for someone, survives. On his brother's return home from the hospital, Rajiv throws a party where he meets Sonia for the first time. Now Sonia is Ranvir’s secret girlfriend but when he sees his younger brother fall for her, Ranvir takes a back seat and allows their romance to flourish. Soon enough Rajiv and Sonia head up to the altar. But not because they are madly in love but because the two have hatched a plan to kill Ranvir and claim the 100 million from Ranvir’s life insurance. And by the time the interval comes around, Saif has fallen from the top of his high storey office and Ranvir and Sonia are counting down the days till the 100 million drops into their account.

But knowing Abbas Mastan it really couldn’t have been that simple!

The twist in the tale comes in when in walks pretty little Sofia claiming to be Ranvir’s lawfully wedded wife and the person who will now get the 100 million dollars from his death! So while Inspector Robert D’Costa (Anil Kapoor) and his assistant Mini (Sameera Reddy) try to solve Ranvir Singh’s murder, younger brother Rajiv Singh tries to get hold of the money from Sofia. And just when you think this is yet another Bollywood good vs evil film, Abbas Mastan throw in a couple more twists!

Overall the film is not bad but a large amount of credit for that goes to the editor and to Allan Amin – the man behind all the action. Abbas Mastan will draw in fans to the box office largely because of the multi star line up and for the infamous Bipasha Basu – Saif Ali Khan lovemaking number (which let us warn you isn’t all that much!). The fast cars, horse racing and the locales of South Africa make the film a treat to watch. But as far as the acting is concerned a lot of the times you were left laughing (when you shouldn’t) and cringing (when you definitely shouldn’t!) The girls looked great thanks to Anahita Shroff Adajania and Katrina and Sameera did just that. It was only Bipasha who can actually claim to have acted in the film. Akshaye Khanna and Saif, on the other hand, were brilliant. The less said about Anil Kapoor and Sameera the better!

So should you go and watch the film?

Yes by all means but only if you are fans of the clichéd Bollywood masala films where deep down you know exactly what is going to happen by the time the credits roll but , like us, you just can't get enough of them!

Shah Rukh Khan and Sonam Kapoor have been locked down to play the main leads and from what we hear the story might just be another Nishabd.

SRK is expected to play a 40 year old NRI who is based in the UK and leads the life of a loner. He returns to his hometown where he meets the young Sonam Kapoor. Playing a typical Punjabi kudi who is just 16 years of age, Sonam is expected to have all the attributes that SRK stays away from.

But slowly and steadily, Khan moves from being the recluse and loner to enjoying life thanks to Kapoor. But obviously their friendship doesn’t go down well with the village folks who look at this friendship of Sonam with a man 24 years her senior suspiciously.

Filming for Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is expected to begin on May 12 and will be released at the end of the year on December 19.

This film will mark the return of Aditya Chopra to the director’s chair after his super hit Mohabbatein (2000). And although Yashraj may hope for a repeat performance from their head honcho with Nishabd still a part of most Bollywood viewers’ memories, the success of this film is something that even the Yashraj-SRK winning combination cannot guarantee!

Vishal and Shekhar are happy that their soundtrack for Om Shanti Om is making waves at an international platform. Though they are waiting for their first major popular award for Om Shanti Om in Mumbai, in Hong Kong their work has already been recognized.

At the prestigious Asian Film Awards held very recently, the duo won an award for 2008's biggest blockbuster, both theatrically and musically, Om Shanti Om. The film was the only Indian entry amongst other Asian films. Also, the awards catered to mainstream cinema which only made the competition tougher.

Reveals Vishal Dadlani, who is of course thrilled about him and Shekhar receiving the award, "It has been quite a pleasant surprise to be recognized for our work at an Asian level. Imagine our music was competing against Lust, Caution, a film which is directed by Ang Lee of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Brokeback Mountain and Hulk fame."

He goes on to add, "I am told that these awards hold a similar stature internationally as Pusan International Film Festival, South Korea. It is definitely a matter of pride for us."

Since awards were aimed at mainstream cinema, how were the winners chosen? Was it through SMS/voting from public or there was a jury system? "It was through jury. It consisted of film personalities from across globe like China, Canada, Italy, Hong Kong, US, South Korea, India, France and Germany", says Vishal.

Other Indian nominations in Asian Film Awards were Deepika Padukone for Om Shanti Om and cinematographer Shanker Raman for Frozen. However, they lost out to their other Asian counterparts.

Recently, Vishal and Shekhar also won Central European Bollywood Award as best composers for Om Shanti Om. The duo has been nominated for most major Bollywood awards this year. Though they lost out on Filmfare awards, they have Zee and Apsara awards to look forward to. Also, they are expected to be on the top of the list in soon-to-be-hosted IIFA awards.

"Ya, it was great getting Central European Bollywood Award as well. Now let's see what do Bollywood awards have in store for us", smiles Vishal.

Why Bhoothnath?

“I and Kuku (Ravi Chopra) are very old friends. He used to often come to me with this ‘ghost’ story but I never showed much interest. At one point I even said no but then the director Vivek Sharma started crying so I took an emotional decision and said yes. It was a very nostalgic experience shooting for the film.”

How similar is your look in the film to Babban (Gabbar of RGV’s Sholay)?

“It has been one and a half years now so please stop asking me about Babban. My look in the film is very dusky. I have worn shabby clothes and put on weight as well. My nails are also very long and ragged.”

Do you believe in ghosts?

“No. I don’t believe in ghosts. I don’t know how he looks so I was not confident but Vivek was so may be has seen a ghost. I only believe in God that’s why I am standing here.”

You have performed some dare devil stunts for the film. How was the experience and will you allow Abhishek to do such stunts?

“When I started off my career performing stunts was very dangerous but now it has become very easy thanks to the use of cranes, wires etc. But I would still not allow Abhishek to carry off such stunts. I am just too possessive about him.”

How difficult is it working with kids?

“It’s a big challenge. Kids are very fast and we have to constantly compete with them. But I have worked with Aman Siddiqui before in many ads and also in Baghban so there was a very good comfort level. He is very committed. At times he was running high fever but he still used to shoot. He is a very bright kid and used to remember lines after just one reading.”

And what about SRK?

“We have done many films together. He is a very dedicated actor and it’s always good working with him. He has a small role in the film but a good one. We had a nice time shooting and used to play games and chat during our free time. I wish he was here for the event.”

Apparently, Aamir is going to take on a new look for his forthcoming Ghajini — the remake of a Tamil film. He will shave his hair, for which he has apparently charged Rs 2 crore. At a promotional event, when asked to justify the sum, he laughed, “I work according to the requirement of the script. If this story requires me to go bald, I will without charging an additional fee.” So, is he going to sport six-pack abs like Shah Rukh Khan or an eight-pack like Sanjay Dutt? “It’s not the abs that are important. For me, to have a good physique you need to have an overall toned body.” The candid Aamir also rubbished rumours of his buying an Indian Cricket League. “As much as I’m interested in cricket,” he said, “I am not interested in buying a cricket team.”

Jodhaa Akbar has recorded fantastic collections in week 3. The film only managed to do business for a few days in week three before it was banned in UP by the state governemnt. This meant the film lost business of 50 lakhs upwards for the week. After three weeks the film has crossed the 48 crore nett mark. Intially it looked the film would be a city hit but the film has turned out to be a universal hit. Jodhaa Akbar will emerge at least a hit in every circuit of India where it had a release even likes of CP Berar and CI where it has had a troubled release from day one.

The expected verdicts range from Blockbuster (Nizam, Mysore) to Super Hit (Mumbai) to Hit (Delhi/UP, East Punjab, West Bengal, Bihar, CP Berar and CI). A small circuit like Tamil Nadu is also showing near Blockbuster business with 1.05 crore nett business so far. If the film continues its strong run and adds another 3 crore+ nett in Delhi/UP then the film will emerge a Super Hit in the domestic market.

One of the most exciting projects to have been announced this year is the third time teaming up of the scion of the Yash Raj empire, ace director Aditya Chopra and Bollywood's global superstar Shah Rukh Khan.

The last two ventures that these two power giants of Bollywood came together for were, DILWALE DULHANIA LE JAYENGE and MOHABBATEIN, both of which struck gold at the ticket window. An amazing stat about the team's first venture, DILWALE DULHANIA LE JAYENGE is that the film is still running at Bombay's Maratha Mandir in its 645th combined week and has netted an astonishing 11.80 crores from the city (excluding Thane). DDLJ still leads King Khan's latest blockbuster, OM SHANTI OM by about 30 lakhs! Amazing, isn't it?

Coming to the project which forced Shah Rukh Khan to cut short his much deserved vacation (post the triumph of CHAKDE! INDIA and OM SHANTI OM), RAB NE BANA DI JODI, the film is all set to go before the camera in mid-May. And contrary to speculations, no lead heroine (not even Rani Mukherjee) has been finalized and the search for a new face opposite King Khan continues.

Finally, the coming Friday will have a new release after a few barren weeks! Yes, we are talking about former showman Subhash Ghai's Anil Kapoor, Shefali Shah and newcomer Anurag Sinha starrer, BLACK & WHITE. This time around Ghai has attempted a realistic film, and with different and well made projects doing well, BLACK & WHITE may just about give Bollywood another reason to smile and Subhash Ghai a new lease of life, after the twin setbacks of YAADEIN and KISNA.

In the absence of any new release, the focus once again remains on Ashutosh Gowariker's 40 crores JODHAA AKBAR. The movie followed its first week pattern of a good weekend, followed by pronounced fall during the weekdays. The fall was rather steep at single screens but the drop was not so huge in the multiplex. In fact, the metros once again proved to be JODHAA AKBAR's strongest areas. Checking out the reported numbers, the movie collected 3.25 crores from Bombay, 65 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 10 lakhs from Rajkot, 3.20 lakhs from Jamnagar, 3.30 lakhs from Bhavnagar, 1.50 lakhs from Bhuj, 1.65 lakhs from Gandhidham, 1 lakh from Adipur, 2 lakhs each from Solapaur and Himmatnagar, 8.70 lakhs from Nasik, 7.65 lakhs from Goa, 1.45 crores from Delhi city, 20.75 lakhs from Noida, 18.85 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 17.10 lakhs from Lucknow, 2.50 lakhs from Agra, 1 lakh from Meerut, 1.65 lakhs from Bareilly, 3.10 lakhs from Aligarh, 20.65 lakhs from Gurgaon, 7.25 lakhs from Faridabad, 1.45 lakhs from Panipat, 64.25 lakhs from Calcutta, 2 lakhs from Guhawati, 14.80 lakhs from Nagpur, 1.70 lakhs from Amravati, 1.10 lakhs from Akola, 2 lakhs from Raipur, and 60 lakhs from Hyderabad. In its second week, JODHAA AKBAR netted another 14.30 crores for a two week all-India total of 39 crores. You got it wrong! Well we are not saying that these two are into an affair, not literally. If reports flowing in are to be trusted then we can soon she Katrina and Ranbir as a couple, in a film of course. The film will be directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Tips.

Katrina and Ranbir were earlier paired for a Yash Raj company film that was directed by Siddharth Anand, but unfortunately after a few scenes were shot the part of Katrina had to be chopped for reasons unknown. The film features Ranbir, Deepika and Bipasha in the lead roles.

By then news was going around Bollywood as to how ‘in-tune’ Ranbir and Katrina looked one screen and we guess director Santoshi did not want that chemistry to go waste. When he was convinced that Ranbir and Katrina would make a great pair, without wasting anytime the director is reported to have signed the pair.

The producer Ramesh Taurani of Tips is reported to have confirmed the signing the duo.

This film that is yet to be titled will go on the floors soon, and if all goes well the audience will get to see yet another cool pair on screen.

Will the Katrina-Ranbir pair be another most-wanted pair, only time will tell.
