Vivek Oberoi is planning to foray into Malayalam movies. It is believed that the actor will share screen space with Malayalam super star Mohanlal for the new Malayalam film directed by Major Ravi, titled Kargil.

The movie is based on a plot surrounding the army operations in Kargil. It will be produced by Santhosh Damodharan in the banner of Damor Films.

Vivek has been a familiar name in the Kerala circuit right from his debut days, with Mohanlal in the movie Company which was a big hit. Thereafter, the actor has been a regular in Kerala circles. He has also been a regular pilgrim during the sabarimala season.

The actor has a knack of rubbing people the wrong way. For his Mission Istanbul, he charged Sunil Shetty whose company, popcorn Entertainment is producing the movie, a sum of 3 crores. Most film makers have not repeated the actor, be it Subhash Ghai, Mani Ratnam or Ram Gopal Varma.

Currently, the only film that he has in his kitty is Apurva Lakhia’s Mission Istanbul. Perhaps, the actor is not getting enough offers in Bollywood and is looking at the Malayalam film industry. The last Bollywood film that he was seen in was Fool and Final in 2007 which did not do well at the box office. Vivek Oberoi or his secretary were unavailable for comment

After earlier ventures like Keerthi Chakra and Mission 90 Days, Major Ravi depicts a plot based on his personal experiences surrounding the army operations in Kargil. The movie will be released in September.
