Which actor is supporting which team; Which team is making what music video; Which actor is which team's brand ambassador...Indiatimes Movies makes it easy for you.
Kings XI Punjab
Owned by Ness Wadia and Preity Zinta, this team has maintained a low profile and doesn't have much Bolly-power besides of course Preity. But the Zinta girl likes it this way. "The cricketers are the heroes, we don't need film personalities!" she maintains. The actress, however, herself did a little jig on the launch day. There hasn't been much draamebaazi post that.
The Chennai Superkings
The Chennai Superkings are happy with their roots, and chose to rope in South stars rather than Bollywood's gora mems. Their brand ambassadors are Vijay and Nayanthara from the Tamil film industry.
Kolkata Knight Riders
Kolkata Knight Riders is owned by actors Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla. The team has produced a music video that'll feature SRK himself. Om Shanti Om music director duo Vishal Shekhar will compose the music for this promotional campaign. Shah Rukh plans to make yet another video in Bengali, with some leading Bengali actresses grooving with him and getting the team and crowd going.
Bangalore Royal Challengers
After the Kolkata Knightriders, Vijay Mallya's Bangalore Royal Challengers are the most filmi. While the team will sport apparel specially designed by Manoviraj Khosla, it will also release a music video directed by Sanjay Gupta. The video will feature actresses Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif along with the team players, and Sandeep Chowta will give the music for it. Mallya plans to come out with yet another music video which will feature the Kannada film industry's popular actors, Upendra and Ramya, who'll do the jig with team captain Rahul Dravid.
Deccan Chargers
The Deccan Chargers are set to provide some wholesome entertainment – on the pitch and even around it. At the launch of their team name, logo et al, the Hyderabad team had organized much fanfare, what with actress Sameera Reddy doing a hatke song with a Latino trio following suit. There was also a musical performance by Taufiq Qureshi and his band ironically called 'Mumbai Stamps'! This team, however, has no filmi brand ambassador yet. They are more focused on the goings on on the cricket pitch than the frills-and-fancies happening in the pavilions.
Delhi Daredevils
The Delhi Daredevils roped in actor Akshay Kumar as their brand ambassador. On being roped in to be a part of the Daredevils, the actor told the media, "My heart beats for Delhi. I consider myself a pucca Dilliwalah. I would like to thank the GMR Group (team owners) for choosing me as the first fan of Delhi Daredevils. I hope I become a lucky mascot for the team."
Mumbai Indians
News has it that actor Hirthik Roshan may be IPL Team Mumbai's brand ambassador. While most are uncertain if the formalities are over, one thing is for sure - The actor will be shooting an album to encourage and support Mumbai on the cricket pitch. And while Anu Malik has composed the music for this one, Hrithik will dance to the tunes.
Rajasthan Royals
The Rajsthan Royals don't have much fanfare except a music video, Halla Bol - the song of which is rendered by Ila Arun and the lyrics penned by Piyush Pandey
