Finally, the coming Friday will have a new release after a few barren weeks! Yes, we are talking about former showman Subhash Ghai's Anil Kapoor, Shefali Shah and newcomer Anurag Sinha starrer, BLACK & WHITE. This time around Ghai has attempted a realistic film, and with different and well made projects doing well, BLACK & WHITE may just about give Bollywood another reason to smile and Subhash Ghai a new lease of life, after the twin setbacks of YAADEIN and KISNA.

In the absence of any new release, the focus once again remains on Ashutosh Gowariker's 40 crores JODHAA AKBAR. The movie followed its first week pattern of a good weekend, followed by pronounced fall during the weekdays. The fall was rather steep at single screens but the drop was not so huge in the multiplex. In fact, the metros once again proved to be JODHAA AKBAR's strongest areas. Checking out the reported numbers, the movie collected 3.25 crores from Bombay, 65 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 10 lakhs from Rajkot, 3.20 lakhs from Jamnagar, 3.30 lakhs from Bhavnagar, 1.50 lakhs from Bhuj, 1.65 lakhs from Gandhidham, 1 lakh from Adipur, 2 lakhs each from Solapaur and Himmatnagar, 8.70 lakhs from Nasik, 7.65 lakhs from Goa, 1.45 crores from Delhi city, 20.75 lakhs from Noida, 18.85 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 17.10 lakhs from Lucknow, 2.50 lakhs from Agra, 1 lakh from Meerut, 1.65 lakhs from Bareilly, 3.10 lakhs from Aligarh, 20.65 lakhs from Gurgaon, 7.25 lakhs from Faridabad, 1.45 lakhs from Panipat, 64.25 lakhs from Calcutta, 2 lakhs from Guhawati, 14.80 lakhs from Nagpur, 1.70 lakhs from Amravati, 1.10 lakhs from Akola, 2 lakhs from Raipur, and 60 lakhs from Hyderabad. In its second week, JODHAA AKBAR netted another 14.30 crores for a two week all-India total of 39 crores. Despite its high budget, the Hrithik-Aishwarya starrer, JODHAA AKBAR is nearly an above average from India. The movie still has the potential to get to a higher status from here on. The UTV project is a blockbuster hit in the Overseas, grossing a huge $3,062,298 from US and an excellent $1,678,986 from UK.


Meanwhile MITHYA from Planman Motion Pictures shows good legs in the third week. The movie collected 13 lakhs from Bombay, 1.55 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 15 lakhs from Delhi city, 2.35 lakhs from Noida, 1.80 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 1.10 lakhs Lucknow, 3.75 lakhs from Gurgaon and 1 lakh from Faridabad. Adding another 65 lakhs, MITHYA manages an impressive 5.40 crores in three weeks from India. It is another triumph for the BHEJA FRY director Rajat Kapoor as MITHYA is inching towards an above average status from India.

Coming to Rohit Shetty's SUNDAY, the movie collected 1.35 lakhs from Bombay, 3.55 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 4.50 lakhs from Delhi city, 1.35 lakhs from Ghaziabad and 5.75 lakhs from Jaipur. The movie manages to add another 35 lakhs during the week. With this SUNDAY has netted around 20.85 crores in five weeks from India. However, the Ajay Devgan, Arshad Warsi, Irrfan Khan and Ayesha Takia starrer remains in the below average category. SUNDAY has fared much better than Ajay Devgan's last release HALLA BOL in the UK, grossing a decent $387,898.

Moving on Aamir Khan's directorial debut venture, TAARE ZAMEEN PAR, the movie is rock steady! During the week, the film collected 11 lakhs from Bombay, 3.25 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 7 lakhs from Delhi, 1 lakh each from Noida, Lucknow and Gurgaon, 2.50 lakhs from Nagpur, 2.10 lakhs from Indore and 8.80 lakhs from Hyderabad. Netting another 70 lakhs in its tenth week, TAARE ZAMEEN PAR is ready to go past the 60 crore mark from India next week. The Darsheel Safary, Aamir Khan and Tisca Chopra starrer is a blockbuster hit in India and a hit in the Overseas, mainly due to its good performance in the US, where it grossed $1,223,869.

Our final entry of the day is Anees Bazmee's WELCOME. The blockbuster Feroze Khan, Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar, Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif starrer managed to add another 25 lakhs and has so far netted 74.75 crores in ten weeks from India. The Firoz Nadiadwala venture WELCOME is also a superhit in the overseas circuit.
