Salman Khan has apparently pulled out of his film with Sanjay Dutt.
Aamir Khan loves surprising his audience. Films like Lagaan and Taare Zameen Par cemented his reputation as an innovative actor-director who isn’t afraid to take risks. “When you come up with something new, it usually means you have to take a lot of risks,” says Aamir. “You have to convince people that what you are doing will work with (the audience). So, being innovative requires a lot of strength and courage — but I think a lot of us have it.”
Of late, the actor has been surprising fans off screen as well. Previously, he would stay away from award functions; these days, however, he is often seen at non-Bollywood award ceremonies. At one such function, he was asked when he would unleash his highly anticipated look — that of a bald man! He merely laughed and said, “I’m going to shave my hair off. That will be my latest innovation.” Guess he has another surprise lined up for us.

The concept is very offbeat, yet people can relate to the situation through which Annu and her family go through". Looking forward to see Annu with Akki in Tashan!

In true Bhansali style, the opera was embellished with colours, elephants, women in colourful ghagra cholis and over the top emotions. Bhansali’s oeuvre is backed by a truly Indian team with costumes by Rajesh Pratap Singh, choreography by Tanusree Shankar, lighting by Somak Mukherjee and sets by Omung Kumar Bhandula.
Padmavati is led by a mainly French cast with Marie-Nicole Lemieux from the French-speaking Canadian province of Quebec playing the title role of the Indian queen who commits sati after stabbing her husband, Ratan Sen, to stop falling into Alouddin’s lustful clutches.
Critics seemed to agree with the audiences. “The sets and the direction is Indian in style…a perfect alchemy of the Bollywood style,” said a review on classiquenews.com. “The visual deployment of the choreography has a somewhat poetic force especially in the sequences that narrate the fierceness and the tragic heroism of a princess in love.”
Resmusica.com said Padmavati was spectacular, vibrant and rich in colours. “This profusion of effects can bring about a visual saturation (maybe the next time they can do away with the metallic jewelry of the dancers) but you can’t contest that Sanjay Leela Bhansali knows how to direct his actors, nothing is left to chance, all the movements look natural,” it said.
“The audience responded to the drama, the pathos, the music and the tragedy. It was truly an uplifting experience,” recounts Bhansali.
Claiming that now he’s “hooked on to doing operas”, Bhansali said its timing, after the critical massacre of his last release, Saawariya, couldn’t have been better. “It takes a lot of courage and strength to do something so unexplored just two months after your last artistic work has been ripped apart,” he said. “Today, I feel reassured and slightly vindicated.”
Bhansali senses a deep connection with France. “My best is achieved here. I go to a store to buy bread and people ask me if I’m an Indian. They ask me, ‘Do you know Devdas and Aishwarya Rai?’, I smile and say, “I’ve heard the names somewhere,” he laughs. Padmavati’s last show will be staged on March 24.
Sajid Khan's next film Housefull will star Akshay Kumar and Deepika Padukone. The film will be produced by Sajid Nadiadwala.
The film is a love story based in New York. The same team of Akshay and the two Sajid's gave a big hit in Heyy Babyy in 2007.
Housefull is expected to release in by middle of 2009. Read More ...
Race has opened to an excellent response in its early shows today all over India. Race has had a huge release in terms of theatres and shows with over 800 cinemas playing the film.
Many multiplexes are giving the film 16-18-20 shows a day. The great start will ensure bumper business over the first weekend and even a decent follow through will mean huge shares in the first week.
Race is a sure shot and will emerge a universal hit at worst. Read More ...
Overall the film is not bad but a large amount of credit for that goes to the editor and to Allan Amin – the man behind all the action. Abbas Mastan will draw in fans to the box office largely because of the multi star line up and for the infamous Bipasha Basu – Saif Ali Khan lovemaking number (which let us warn you isn’t all that much!). The fast cars, horse racing and the locales of South Africa make the film a treat to watch. But as far as the acting is concerned a lot of the times you were left laughing (when you shouldn’t) and cringing (when you definitely shouldn’t!) The girls looked great thanks to Anahita Shroff Adajania and Katrina and Sameera did just that. It was only Bipasha who can actually claim to have acted in the film. Akshaye Khanna and Saif, on the other hand, were brilliant. The less said about Anil Kapoor and Sameera the better!
So should you go and watch the film?
Yes by all means but only if you are fans of the clichéd Bollywood masala films where deep down you know exactly what is going to happen by the time the credits roll but , like us, you just can't get enough of them!

Yash Raj's Tashan starring Akshay Kumar, Anil Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor one of the most awaited films of 2008. It marks Akshay's return to the Yash Raj banner after 12 years and Anil's after 15 years.
Anil is playing a bad man in the film while Kareena, who will be seen sporting a bikini for the first time, is said to be a playing a role inspired by Uma Thurman's character in Kill Bill. She has also done some stunts for the film. Saif's son Ebrahim will also feature in the film. Tashaan is also largely awaited because it was on the sets of Tashan that it is believed that Kareena and Saif started their new relationship.
It has been shot at different locales including Haridwar, Greece, Ladakh and Rajasthan.
