No one wanted their film to release on the same day, as everyone expected it to be a hit. Namastey London was released in the midst of the Cricket World Cup, as the makers feared their prospects opposite the Yash Raj film.

TRRP director Siddharth Raj Anand had earlier made the hit, Salaam Namaste. But the film bombed.
